Happiness Now, Not Later

Genese Roberson

We've all heard it: "I'll be happy when..." Fill in the blank with whatever dream, goal, or circumstance you wish. Whether it's a new job, a perfect body, a loving relationship, or financial security, the idea that happiness depends on future events is a common trap.

But the truth is, happiness isn't a destination. It's a journey. It's a mindset, a choice, and a practice. And it's available to us right now, in this very moment, regardless of our circumstances.

Why are we so scared to embrace the fact that happiness is not a destination. It is a daily choice that we make everyday. Maybe it's because we've been conditioned to believe that happiness is something we have to earn, something we must strive for. We've been taught to put our lives on hold until we reach a certain point, until we achieve a certain level of success. But this way of thinking can lead to a life of disappointment and frustration.

Instead, let's shift our focus to the present moment. Let's appreciate the small joys, the simple pleasures. Let's find gratitude in the midst of our challenges. Let's live with intention and purpose, knowing that every day is an opportunity to create a life we love.
