Fried Cabbage w/Bacon
Genese RobersonFried cabbage with bacon and sausage is a dish that people can’t help but to fall in love with. It’s a perfect fall dish as many people would consider it as comfort food. The crispy bacon and juicy smoked sausage bring a delicious flavor to the cabbage. It’s perfect for busy weeknights or as a crowd-pleaser at gatherings.
Ingredients
1 medium head of cabbage
1 large red bell pepper thinly sliced
1 lb sausage sliced round
6 slices bacon cut into small pieces
1 medium onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
2 tps olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Heat large skillet over medium heat. Fry bacon until crispy. Remove from grease, cut into pieces. Set aside. In the same skillet add sausage slices and olive oil if needed cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
2. Add onions bell peppers and garlic. Cook until translucent. Add chopped cabbage to skillet, stir to coat in bacon grease. Add a splash of chicken broth, cook stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender.
3. Return cooked bacon and sausage to skillet. Stir well to combine ingredients. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to infuse together. Serve hot and enjoy!
