A Bond that can’t be broken

Genese Roberson

As a parent, there’s nothing quite like the unique connection you share with your child. It's a bond that is often times tested, and can be very challenging for a lack of better words. It comes with highs and low, and good times and bad times. But never the less, deep down within lies the power of love, support, and the ability to bridge differences.

I know for me and my daughter it's not easy.  So kudos to any mother who can say they have never faced challenging times with at least one of their children. Im sure I speak for millions of mothers around the world when I say share with us your recipe to a perfect relationship.

Even though me and my daughter don't always get it right, through our experiences, I've learned the true meaning of unconditional love and the importance of being a constant source of support.

I've learned the power of  respecting the young lady she has become today. I've also learned to allow her the freedom to enjoy her own journey through life. However there are times that I will throw my own two cents about my personal life experiences when necessary. But at the end of the day its MY advice and she still has the freedom to take it or leave it, with the comfort of knowing I will still be here as a strong source of support if needed.

With that being said I really have to give my child some credit, and acknowledge the strong minded (often too strong minded, but I can't be mad because she probably gets that from me), beautiful smart young lady she has become. She's under twenty-five with no kids (I was nineteen when I had her), she has a great career, her own EVERYTHING, and a strong sense of family. She is doing a damn good job. And I have to say, I am a proud mom.

Being a supportive parent means being there for our children, no matter what. And at the same time setting necessary boundaries,  It means being a good listener, celebrating their successes, and offering guidance when needed. By providing unwavering support, we empower our children to reach their full potential.
